Kim Shady?
date: friday 13 June 2003
Eminem's former wife, Kimberley Mathers, is under investigation for alleged cocaine possession after police found a white powder in her car this week.
Mathers, 28, was pulled over near her native Detroit at 2.30am on Tuesday morning (June 10) and arrested for driving without a licence, according to St. Clair Shores Police Department.
Having searched her white Cadillac Escalade, police found Mathers to be in possession of two small bags of what they believe to be cocaine.
The confiscated white powder has since been sent to the Michigan State Police crime lab for testing, whilst Mathers is now free, pending charges.
According to The Smoking Gun, Mathers - who divorced Eminem in October 2001 - was travelling with another woman near 12 Mile Road when she was pulled over for an undisclosed traffic violation.
Mathers, mother to Eminem's daughter Hailie, was arrested in July 2001 on felony cocaine possession, though charges were dropped five months later.
Meanwhile, Eminem has reportedly been offered £1.5 million per episode to star in a new US television series.
US network HBO are said to be in talks with the rap star about a new show, which it's hoped will replicate the success of the channel's hit show, 'Sex & The City'.
Eminem, who recently picked up an MTV movie award for his performance in '8 Mile', is expected to play a rich rap star from the wrong side of the tracks.
Slim Lady?
date: Thursday 22 May 2003
Mariah Carey has branded Eminem "a little girl" for threatening to sample her voicemail messages on record.
Rap star Em - who reportedly dated Mariah briefly in 2002 - claims to have saved a number of "slushy" messages from the singer on his phone and plans to use them on a future single.
Carey, who has always denied she was romantically involved with the hip-hop icon, told reporters Eminem was "childish" to make such threats.
"I don't think he should do that because it will get him in a bit of trouble with my lawyers," she told The Sun.
"If he is thinking of using a voicemail I left a year ago it is crazy.
"It feels like he is engaging in a catfight with me. It's like dealing with a girlfriend in seventh grade. It's like fighting with a little girl. It's childish."
Meanwhile, a former schoolmate of Eminem is set to go to trial later this month with a $1 million lawsuit against the rap star.
As previously reported, DeAngelo Bailey filed a defamation lawsuit in August 2001 claiming that the Eminem track, 'Brain Damage', portrays him as a bully.
Bailey, 32, says his reputation and his ability to launch a music career have been damaged by the track, which can be found on the multi platinum-selling 'Slim Shady' LP.
According to reports, Bailey's solicitor recently asked to be removed from the case - citing a breakdown in communication with his client - though the trail is still set to go ahead in Michigan on May 30.
Shady Cent
date: Thursday 24 April 2003
50 Cent is to perform alongside Eminem at his upcoming UK concerts, according to reports.
The shows, which take place at the Milton Keynes Bowl on June 21 and 22, will mark the first time multi platinum-selling 50 has performed live in the country.
Though official 50 Cent tour dates are yet to be confirmed, it's thought the rap superstar could also join Eminem for a secret warm-up show in London on June 20.
50's next single, '21 Questions', is released in the UK on June 30.
Meanwhile, Jay-Z is said to have confirmed his participation in a forthcoming US tour with 50 Cent.
According to MTV, the summer trek - entitled Roc The Mic - will also see guest performances from the likes of Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliott and Sean Paul.
Hail Shady
date: Monday 14 April 2003
Eminem has returned fire in his feud with Ja Rule, having recorded a vicious freestyle attack on the rapper and his Murder Inc family.
The track, which is based around the beat of Tupac's 'Hail Mary', kicks off with Em addressing Murder Inc founder Irv Gotti:
"Irv Gotti, too much Bacardi in his body/You ain't a killer, you a pussy/That ecstasy got you all emotional and mushy/Bitches wearing rags in photos/Ja's word being quoted/In The Source, stealing Pac's sh*** like he just wrote it."
He continues: "Come get me/Muthaf***er, If you want Shady/If Pac was still here now/He would never ride with Ja/Na, na, na, na, na".
According to MTV, Eminem's Shady/Aftermath cohort 50 Cent joins the track on the second verse, insinuating that Ja is a closet homosexual and branding Gotti old and flabby like retired boxer Larry Holmes.
The insults - a response to a recent lyrical attack by Ja Rule - are thought to be the first in a series of upcoming aggressive freestyles.
Another track entitled 'Haile's Revenge' is reportedly on its way, with Eminem's daughter Haile Jade featured in the background and Slim Shady and D12 on main vocals.
